10 Tips to Manage Work when Pregnant

Managing work while being pregnant is not a child's play, you need a level of dedication and stamina to take care of everything related to you, both at personal and professional fronts. The write up shares some tips which can help the expectant mothers to manage their work easily and healthily! IMG 1 Being pregnant is a rollercoaster ride of emotional and life changes. Going through biological, physiological as well as psychological changes, the responsibilities of a pregnant working woman skyrocket even further. Dealing with home and work issues, as well as managing mood swings and pregnancy-induced pains is not at all easy. But the good news is that you have many ways to enjoy working and pregnancy together, thus creating a perfect wok-life balance. Here are some of the suggestions, which can help you to not only manage work, but also alleviate the problems you face working while being pregnant. Informing your employer about your pregnancy is important! If you are planning to stop working after your baby arrives, inform your employee beforehand so that they can find a replacement for you, and help you to manage the important tasks and projects before you leave. Make sure that you break this news to your employer by yourself, and he doesn't have to hear this from the horse's mouth. This would sound extremely unprofessional. Act and behave responsibly, your employer will also understand your situation and wont force you to work for long hours or will assign you tedious tasks. Most women can continue working during pregnancy. Some do it until the day the baby arrives, while some have to opt for staying at home, as the health sometimes doesn't allow them to work for extended hours. Working during pregnancy can present some challenges. Learning not to take risks and stay comfortable can help you have a healthy pregnancy in the workplace. You may feel more tired than usual, particularly in the early and late pregnancy. To combat fatigue and have energy all day: Take frequent breaks; get up and walk a few minutes or try to sleep a short power nap.Go to bed early the night to rest as much as possible.Exercise whenever you can; this will help you have more energy during the day.Drink plenty of fluids.Eat a healthy diet, as working will put a lot of stress on your body.Relax and avoid stressful situations if possible. 4. Exposure to Hazardous Substances It is important that the environment around you is safe for you and your baby. Talk to your health care professional if you are working with: Metals (such as mercury or lead)Products containing many chemicals (such as certain cleaning solutions, pesticides or gas)Radioactive waste, radiation or other hazardous substances (such as drugs for cancer treatment or X-rays) Contact with such materials without appropriate protective equipment (gloves, gowns and masks) can cause birth defects, spontaneous abortion or other serious health problems. Describe the health care professional who treats your work environment and the safety equipment that you or your company uses. The professional can tell you if it is safe to continue working during pregnancy. Also, talk with your health care professional if you work in a place of extreme heat. Working in very hot places can raise body temperature. If your body temperature is too high, it can be dangerous for the baby. Pregnant women and their babies are more likely to be susceptible to infections around them. If you are working in a lab or a healthcare facility, make sure you are protecting yourself in the best possible manner. Some of the diseases such as chicken pox, measles or influenza can be very harmful during pregnancy. Be sure to wash your hands frequently. If you think your health and your baby are at risk, immediately speak to your health care professional. Some jobs may require more physical effort than others may. For example, if your work involves heavy lifting or climbing, it may be dangerous. The problems aggravate if you have nausea, fatigue and dizziness in early pregnancy. Later in pregnancy, carrying extra weight can alter your sense of balance and make it more likely to fall and get hurt. Talk to your employer about the possibility of doing other work while pregnant. 9. Using Computers and Desktops Most of the jobs today involve the use of computers and sitting at a desk for much of the day. Some women who do those jobs may feel discomfort in the wrists and hands, neck and shoulder pain, back pain as well as eyestrain. To help avoid these pains, follow these tips: Take short breaks frequently and walk around the office or building.Adjust the chair, keyboard and other office equipment to make them more comfortable to use.Use a cushion or small pillow for support at the waist.Keep your feet elevated using a footrest.Make sure the position of the hands and arms is correct to use the computer.Use a non-reflective cover glass on the computer monitor.Adjust the brightness and contrast controls of the computer that is comfortable for the eyes. Advice and Tips for Online Journaling

Whether you want to write about your life to clear your head or to inspire others, online journaling is a great way to save your memories for the future. Many social networking websites allow you to write your stories and publish them. Some sites allow you to save them as drafts or make them visible to only you or to a small network of close family and friends. In this way, you can write something when your memory is fresh or when the inspiration to write strikes without feeling pressured to immediately share it with the world. With online journaling you can save all or part of your life story to possibly share at a later time or make it public right away. So here are some tips for making an effective online journal.

Decide what website you will save your journal to. There are several free online journaling sites on the Internet such as tumblr and LiveJournal. You can also sign up for a WordPress blog and save your works as drafts or publish. If you want to share your page with others right away and expect a large amount of traffic, you can also pay to have a URL by getting your own domain name.Learn all the features of the website you have chosen. Just write a few sentences or a quick story. Get a feel for how to use the site to post pictures, videos, or outside links.Decide what you want to focus on. Do you want to write about a single event that happened to you, your response to something you saw, or do you plan to keep a daily journal? Start small.Come up with a theme to tie the posts together. The theme could be as simple as "I did it!" or something more complex like "Good friends make everything bearable." A small theme is good for each individual story post. A larger theme could tie all your journal entries together, such as "My observations about the world from my backpacking trip through Asia."Decide on your intended audience. Are you just writing this for yourself, for close family and friends, or for the public? Is this intended as a 'how to' for other people who would like to do something similar? Your tone will change depending on who you expect to be reading it.Put yourself in the scene. Where were you? What was the weather like? What were you doing? Who did you meet and what did they say? Was it day or night? Paint a picture with your words.Write! It really is as simple as just starting to write and you will probably enjoy it so much that you won't want to stop.

Online journaling is a great way to rediscover things about yourself through your experiences or to preserve cherished memories. Because it is personal, it should require no outside research or "work," and may amount to simply recording your thoughts. Whether you are an experienced writer or a novice, you can gain valuable insights about life by thinking through events. You may discover that other people who read it want to share their stories too!

Weight loss surgery often restraint the amount of food taken in furthermore influences the way you absorb nutrients and digest food. BS is a part of gastrointestinal surgery that alters the digestive process to achieve weight loss quickly. The entire surgery can be performed in any one of two ways that includes Gastric Banding and Gastric Bypass.

In GBS, using laparoscopic technique, a band is fitted on the top of the patient's stomach. Just a little amount of food needs to be expended, after which the patient would as of now feel full. Having the surgery performed on your stomach implies that you need to consume your food quite slowly, to process it better. This surgery leads to loss of about 40% of excess weight and is considered as the safest one to reduce the excessive body weight.

GBS is of three types such as Adjustable Gastric Banding, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, and Vertical Banded Gastroplasty. Collectively they are known as restrictive weight loss surgeries. These surgeries are safer and easier to perform because of laparoscopic technique used in the procedures. However some risks are also involved in the surgery such as vomiting, slippage of the band and rarely the breaks in the tubing.

On the other hand, in Gastric Bypass surgery, a more modest stomach is made and through this bypass the patient would have a feeling of already being full, despite the fact that he has just consumed a generally little amount of food. Also on the grounds that the patient is feeling full at an early timing, it implies that he would be eating lesser calories than if he would be consuming consistently. Advantages of Lap Band Surgery

Even a few years ago, liposuction in India was the most established surgical way of reducing weight and layers of fat from the body. But the scenario has changed a lot in last two decades. With bariatric surgeries making its prominent place in the health care system, all earlier techniques have taken a back seat. Lap band surgery is another of such techniques that has been improving the quality of life by treating obesity and eliminating allied disorders which often pose a life threats to the patients.

Lap band is the common term used for gastric banding. In lap band surgery, a band adjustable in nature is placed at the upper portion of the abdomen by making a laparoscopic incision. This band is made of silicone and is adjusted as per requirement by filling it up with saline with the help of a port placed right under the stomach skin. The process of filling is same as you would blow air in a balloon in shape of a doughnut. The adjustment is done and undone as the capacity of the stomach changes with the change in your food habit and regime. This kind of surgery restricts the food intake as the pouch created by inserting the band is small and you start feeling full with the little amount of food. It slows down the process of food moving from the passage to the intestines.

Lap band surgery can be performed on obese person with a BMI of 40 kg/m2 or in special medical cases where the weight is anywhere between 35 kg/mg2 to 40 kg/m2. In other words, if you are 40 to 45 kilograms above the ideal weight and have a history of failed weight loss procedures including or excluding surgeries. Usually such surgeries are the final resorts for all those who could not succeed in losing weight and return to a normal lifestyle even after dieting, taking weight loss supplements, slogging hard in gymnasiums etc.

The effects of lap band surgery become evident only after the initial phase of healing of operation wound. For best results, you must take rest for first two weeks. If your recovery is fast and uneventful, the result of this surgery will be better. Initially, patient is recommended liquid diet, then on to semi solid and eventually solid. The span of each diet may vary as per the capacity of patient's body and opinion of the doctor. Lap band surgery cures and controls many problems that were tagged along with obesity. Women for whom obesity was a hindrance on the path to conceive, can now plan baby, though consultation would be required regarding adjustment of the band. This is the reason it is regarded as one of safest weight loss surgeries in India.

5 Tips to Lose Weight and Save Your Heart

Our hearts are actively working twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to pump oxygenated blood around our bodies. It needs as much health and help as possible to keep this good work up, but unfortunately most of us abuse our bodies, thus causing degradation of the heart resulting in heart disease. A leading cause of heart disease is high blood pressure and high cholesterol. One of the best ways to combat high cholesterol and improve heart health is to lose weight, particularly if you are morbidly obese. Here are some tips for losing weight to ensure your heart keeps up the good work for many years to come:

1. Don't starve yourself: Many people believe that the best way to lose weight is not to eat. This is not true at all, the more often you eat the faster your metabolism will burn the food, which in turn will help you to lose weight. However, you cannot eat just anything. You need to increase your quantities of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins whilst decreasing your intake of saturated fats and carbohydrates.

2. Get moving: Although you may balk at the word 'exercise' there are many other ways to get moving. Not everyone has time to visit the gym every day but there are other ways to get active. Take a walk with your dog every day, clean your house thoroughly, join a dance class and take the stairs instead of the elevator. These are all simple ways with which to get your blood pumping and the fat melting.

3. Drink water: Most of the time, when we feel like we are starving, it is actually our bodies crying out for hydration. Not only is drinking adequate amounts of water good for your skin, it also helps you to feel fuller and eat smaller portions when you do tuck in. Try to get at least eight glasses of water in a day, especially if it is very hot or you are working out.

4. Breakfast: The one meal that is often skipped, breakfast is actually the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast kick-starts your metabolism. Avoid breakfast cereals that are high in sugar and carbohydrates.

5. Cook healthier: One of the biggest problems with food lies in its preparation. Foods that have been fried in oil or coated in spices and sauces are naturally going to be higher in fat content. Opt for steaming or boiling your food to make it healthier, and avoid adding too much salt.

Weight loss is a journey, and remember that the journey is more important than the destination. Once you start living a healthier lifestyle, you will feel and see the effects on your body and mind. Ensure that you check your heart health and cholesterol levels regularly so you can see the effects of your weight loss on your heart first hand.

10 Weight Loss Tips for Beginners

There are many reasons for wanting to lose weight. Among the many reasons are feeling more energetic, better health, and more self confidence. It seems as if it should be an easy goal to accomplish once the desire for these things hits. However, it is not so easy to do, especially for those that have never tried to lose weight before. These simple tips, though, will make the weight loss process more bearable.

Don't Allow Yourself to Get Too Hungry

Hunger is the enemy of all that are trying to diet. When hungry, anything edible suddenly seems like a good idea. Whatever is consumed may quell the hunger, but it often comes back to haunt you later. Avoid that regret by planning meals and snack time in advance. Always have a healthy snack handy. Keep it in the car, a purse, a pocket, or anywhere else near by just in case you do get hungry and are caught away from home.

Do Not Cheat the Calorie Intake

Math does not lie. If roughly 3500 equals a pound, all it takes is an excess of 3500 a week to gain a pound a week. An excess in calories is more than the body uses. If the body cannot use all of the calories consumed in a day, it stores those calories as fat for later use. So if more calories are continuously being consumed than used, the fat builds up. Weight loss only begins when more calories are being used than consumed.

Eat Carefully After Exercise

A workout leaves a person feeling hungry, but eating too many calories after a workout can undo all of the work that would otherwise go toward the weight loss goal. People also tend to overestimate the amount of calories burned during a workout, thinking they can afford to eat more calories after a meal. One way to avoid that trap is to plan a healthy post workout snack that will curb the hunger without adding more calories.

Remember Red, Orange, and Green

If every time you eat a meal you put something either red, orange, or green on your plate, you will be sure to get many of the nutrients your body needs. In addition, colorful food is more attractive and increases the appetite. You will be more likely to eat more healthy food and less unhealthy calories. In fact, following a strict calorie counting diet may be too difficult. If so, try focusing on this tip instead.

Drink A Lot

Shying away from liquids for fear of retaining water weight is not a good idea. The truth is, a person is more likely to retain water when not getting enough of it. Not to mention, dehydration is not healthy and causes a whole host of other medical problems. It is much better to be a heavy drinker, especially at meal time. Drink water, though, not alcohol or other beverages. Not even diet sodas are helpful for weight loss. They are loaded with salt and unhealthy artificial sweeteners. Water is a zero calorie indulgence and it helps the stomach feel full so that less calories are ingested. The average person needs to consume about 64 ounces of water a day in order to avoid dehydration.

Ditch the Salt

Salt has the potential to increase both hunger and thirst. Plus, too much salt in the diet leaves a person feeling bloated, can cause weight gain, leads to water retention, and makes it hard to lose weight. Always check the labels on items purchased in the grocery store. Lower sodium options are always best. Better yet, whenever possible, prepare a meal at home where sodium does not have to be added.

Do Not Keep Food on the Table

Traditionally, food is placed in the center of the table and then passed around to put on the plate. However, that leads to temptation to eat more servings than necessary even if hunger is already gone. Instead, plate the food somewhere away from the place it will be eaten. You will be less likely to go back for seconds if you have to get up to get it.

Do Not Rush

People that eat quickly tend to eat more than those that eat slowly. This is because it takes some time for the brain to register the feeling of being full after food is in the stomach. The average time for the brain to realize the stomach is full is about 20 minutes. So, taking more time to chew food thoroughly and to fully enjoy the flavors of it gives the brain time to register that the stomach is full without overstuffing.

Eat Before Going Out

Going out with friends or going to parties tends to lead to excess food consumption. All the goodies are there for the taking. It is quite easy to mindlessly consume the snacks. To avoid that issue, eat a healthy meal before heading out. You will be more mindful of what and how much you eat.

Never Skip Breakfast

Research published by the British Journal of Nutrition suggests that those who eat breakfast every day stay more satisfied throughout the rest of the day than those that do not. The goal for breakfast should be about 250 calories and there should be protein included in the meal. This will keep you feeling fuller longer, making it less likely that you will do unhealthy snacking or that you will consume too many calories during lunch
