All You Should Know About the Latest Mac OS X Yosemite

With the conference being over, now it's time to have a look on the announcements. First conducted on 1990, this conference is specially meant for the developers to whom, Apple showcases its new technologies and software.

However, with the growing IT knowledge among the common people, even end users have started showing great interest in these kinds of tech conferences to get a first hand idea regarding upcoming technologies related to computing devices and smartphones. For a brand like Apple, it is obvious that end users are very curious to learn the announcements made during the WWDC so that they can have a vague idea about what to expect from to-be launched Apple devices.

This year, Apple made two exciting announcements - iOS8 and OS X Yosemite. Talking of one at a time, let us discuss about the latest Mac OS X Yosemite, which has been named after a beautiful place in California.

A new look

Mac OS X Yosemite not just has a new name but also a new look. During the pre-announcement speculations, it was heard that most likely the new Mac OS X will have a look inspired by Windows Vista and iOS7. But the product that actually got launched is even nicer. It is arguably cleaner and the features like the Notification Bar and the Calendar have been kept translucent so that objects on the screen remain clear and radiate a feel fresh factor.

Spotlight

Although, Spotlight is not something new to the Mac OS, but with OS X Yosemite, it has become more responsive as it now supports an easy search. Mac-Phone is a new and much awaited feature that has made OS X Yosemite better than ever. Owing to the Mac-phone feature, now you will be able to answer or make a call from your Mac, even if your iPhone is not in the same room. Not just phone calls, you will also be able to send and receive messages from iOS as well as Android devices.

Handoff

If you are reading an e-Book or doing any task on your Mac sitting back at your bed and suddenly you are moving out of your home and want to resume reading of your e-book in your car. But jumping from Mac to iPhone or iPad or vice versa will mean that you have to restart the task from the beginning, like opening the e-book and moving to the page you were reading but. As a solution to this, Apple has introduced the Handoff feature that will help you resume your task in an iPhone or iPad from where you left in your Mac.

AirDrop

AirDrop sharing functionality in Mac OS X Yosemite has got improved. With the aid of AirDrop now you can easily share files between iOS 8 devices and a Mac. Just locate the file you want to share and use AirDrop to get it delivered across iOS8 devices and OS X Yosemite devices.

If your recipient is also a Yosemite user than he will see the Mail Drop and can also chose to encrypt the file and get uploaded to iCloud straight from the mail. But if your recipient is using an older version of Mac OS X or other OS like Windows then, he will receive a download link. A feature called MarkUp is another email improvement that will help in defacing and annotating images and PDFs.

Soft spot for Hotspot

With OS X Yosemite, your Mac gains the power to transform your iPhone into a hotspot without going through the difficult pairing process. All you need to do is just go to the Wi-Fi menu on your Mac and connect to your iPhone. You will be able to see the battery level and signal strength of your iPhone.

iCloud Drive

As required and as expected, OS X Yosemite has made working with cloud easier by giving its users more flexibility and freedom. Now, you will have much more ease in accessing and viewing files stored in any of your iOS or Mac OS X device.
