Decode the Basics of Linux with Device Driver Training

You would have come across Windows device driver, which besides providing an interface to the hardware makes assumptions on the probable uses of that particular hardware. A Linux device driver on the other hand is responsible for the interface only and has nothing to do with how it will affect usability aspect of the hardware. Moreover, such drivers don't play any sort of active part in bestowing graphical interfaces to the hardware. The community of Linux developers actively contributes to create and maintain the Linux kernel source tree, which further serves as the basis of most of Linux supported hardware drivers. Device Driver Training allows students to learn the essential tenets of software programming and hardware's practical use as well.

A driver is responsible only for providing access to particular hardware or a set of hardware. For doing so, Linux does not rely on any type/s of Application Binary Interface or ABI, a regular feature of Microsoft drivers, to make particular hardware accessible. Application Binary Interface for Linux device drivers is somewhat impractical and useless and you will not find any such interface in Linux. The Linux Kernel and the hardware is not direct accessible from the user space. The kernel has a set of system calls and all the communication from the user space and the kernel space happens through these system calls only.

These system calls serves as a reliable user space interface for myriad applications, which further helps in creation of dedicated modules for device drivers' creation. While creating these drivers, the modules maintain their separate identity; however, they conform to standardized system calls for serving special functions. Hence, the first thing you need to understand is that device drivers for Linux owe their existence and creation to the kernel tree. Thus, you can insert or remove any or each module from kernel at runtime; however, such actions are subject to kernel configuration which was configured while compiling the kernel.

The users further need to understand the capability and usability aspects. Device Drivers work rather discreetly on the usability front; the drivers do not actually tell you about their probable uses. Hardware devices may further be categorized into three main classes, namely network interfaces, block devices and character devices. While network devices make it possible to exchange data with other hosts through packet transmission, a block device is always accessible in the form of blocks and as such, is quite capable of hosting a file system. A character device, on the other hand, is akin to a file, which further includes serial ports, text console and keyboard. Basically, a character device is a steady stream of bytes or characters. Linux device driver training allows you get a hang of Linux basics.

Further, an open source GNU General Public License (GPL) licenses the Linux kernel, which further facilitates its free availability. After downloading a particular kernel, people may alter, modify or redistribute it further. However, same assumption cannot be applied to Linux device drivers because of their modular nature. Since drivers are modular, they aren't actually parts of the kernel. But for interacting with the hardware , the driver has to be a part of the kernel , usual process is by inserting it as a module in runtime. The driver needs to have a GPL license if it has to be inserted successfully in the kernel . Some modules or drivers will also have another kind of license "BSD" and some will also have a dual license "GPL/BSD".

How to Install your Favorite Apps on Windows Phone 8 Device?

Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system (OS) is the latest buzz in the market for those using smartphones running on Windows 8. While releasing the OS, Microsoft has emphasized a lot and worked in detail to make the OS offer as many features as it can but still every OS has got its limitations.

Like other mobile operating systems including iOS and Android, the Windows Phone 8 also allows users to add unlimited functionalities to their phone by using third party Windows 8 apps. As you know that these apps are not built into the OS so every user needs to install the OS on to the device. This article is about offering you valuable guidelines and information regarding how to install apps on your Windows Phone 8 device.

Before you actually begin the process of installing applications on your device, you must understand that applications on your Windows Phone are technically similar to those on other smartphones except that your device uses pivots and panoramas. These pivots and panoramas sometimes create inconvenience to the user as it can hide other options and information. So if you are not able to find a feature or you have landed yourself in a new and unfamiliar area of the application then you should simply keep swiping until you find the app that you are looking for.

Below discussed is the step-by-step guideline for installing apps on your Windows Phone 8 device:

First of all you have to unlock your device by swiping from the bottom of the display to the top. In case you have PIN number or special password then you also need to enter it once you lifted the lock screen. Now you have to find the Windows Phone Store app and tap or click on it to open it. It is mostly on the top or bottom of your screen that depends on the brand of your device and type of the carrier on which your device operates. Mostly it is found on the bottom left side of the Start Screen.Alternatively, you can also open the Windows Store from the app list by taking your finger on the right side of the Start Screen and swiping from right to left then tapping on the Stores icon.Once you are in the Windows Phone Store and you are looking for a specific application then the best way is to magnifying glass appearing on the bottom of the screen. Most of the Windows Phone applications on the Windows Phone Store offer a panoramic experience. This allows you to find more options by swiping from the left to right. After you swipe on the screen you get to see the Windows Phone Store's featured applications. By swiping the screen for the second time you get to see a list of featured applications. Now you have to swipe again to reach a 'games' area and swipe for the last time that will show the featured music section. To find out any specific application you need to type the application's name into the search engine.Just like any other search engine, the Windows Phone Store will show you all relevant results as a result of your search. The results will appear on the top of your screen. Now you have to tap on the application which is most relevant to your search.Your next step will be to tap on 'Install' button. If you swipe across left to right on the screen then the application page will let you know about the application screen shots, user reviews and other related applications. Some of the applications require permission before being installed on your device. In such cases, you need to authorize the applications for the installation to take place.Once you allow the application for installation, the Windows Phone will take you to list of apps and start installing the application. The status of downloading is shown by a small progress bar which lets you know whether the installation has been done or not.

Once you are done with the installation, you can tap on the application to open and use it. You have to apply the same process for installing other applications which you want from the Windows Store.

Android VS iOS - Which One is Better?

Android VS IOS- which one is better?

Android and IOS are very common words for technology enthusiasts and Smartphone users. It is a Linux-based designed for smartphones and tablet computers developed by Google operating system. On the other hand, IOS is developed and marketed by Apple Inc. mobile operating system.

Take a closer look at Android ios:

A. Proprietary Vs Open Source IOS

Apple governs its rights on its IOS. This proved to be a boon for Android. The device is totally free and also an open source, which means that anyone can have a look and modify its code. This has led to a huge percentage of the population of application programmers opt or switch to this device

Thus, in the war of Apple Vs Android - Android wins because of some advantages

2. Applications

Although Google says its Android Market is huge and popular, but the reality is that currently it is far from Apple's App Store. Also, I personally like to emphasize that the most popular Android applications are already popular on IOS and then are transported to another platform. I do not think there is any application that has been transported to Android to Apple because of its popularity.

3. Hardware

Personally, I 'm a fan of Apple hardware. But they also kept their prices really high to a normal user like me. So here's Android, with companies such as LG and Samsung literally the provision of free equipment to anyone interested.

4. Developers

This is another crucial factor. Application developers of Apple are having a hard time to download applications from the App Store because they have to go through all the controls. On the other hand, Google said that it's developers are free to publish their applications on it's Market. And more and more applications are on the way for Android users.

Considering all the above factors, I can safely say tha tit has a very bright future in the war of Google device Vs Apple IOS, Android will be the winner. It is so far the best device that has been used by the users.
